Disposal and Recycling

Click here to return to the Life Cycle home pageWhen the whiteboard marker is no longer  usable, it will probably be thrown into the garbage or recycled. This depends on factors such as material prices, labor costs, available recycling facilities, as well as legislation. In wealthier countries where labor costs are high, the whiteboard marker will probably end up in a waste incineration plant or in the landfill because the value of the materials are too low to justify recycling. In poorer countries where labor costs are low and many people have their daily income from material collection for recycling, the aluminum casing and the polyethylene parts will probably be collected for recycling on the way to the landfill.

Landfill disposal, recycling, incineration all belong to the disposal/recycling phase of the whiteboard marker.
