Production of Polyamide (PA) Parts

Click here to return to the Life Cycle home pageThe tip and sponge of the whiteboard marker are made from polyamide. The sponge is a non-woven, flexible, porous structure of interlocking fibers that are produced by extrusion. During the extrusion process heated PA is continuously pushed by a rotating screw through a die. The tip is a also a non-woven, durable polyamide bonded by resin into the fiber nibs. The extrusion processes requires electricity.
