Transportation

Click here to return to the Life Cycle home pageTransportation processes are everywhere in the whiteboard markers lifecycle, (transportation of raw materials, materials, products and waste). Transportation can be performed in many different ways, using more or less sophisticated transportation equipment, such as conveyor belts, pipelines, tractors, bicycles, motorcycles, cars, trucks, trains, river barges, and supertankers. In many transportation processes, a diesel engine delivers the power to move the goods, and the fuel consumption and air emissions from the diesel engine are normally among the most important exchanges associated with the transportation process. The quantity and composition of exchanges vary with type, size, age, and maintenance conditions of the transportation unit as well as transportation praxis, load, etc.
